Life Lessons: Overview

One of the most fundamental and important things in life is to come to the realisation that we are here on Earth to learn lessons. And the way we learn is by coping with dramas, misfortunes, events and people that make us feel bad. This is an unavoidable aspect of life! Many people wonder why things go wrong in their lives, why they have dramas, illnesses and various other "less than perfect" situations. They wonder what went wrong to cause these things. They blame themselves for wrong or inadequate actions or they put the blame onto someone or something else. Well the fact is that nothing "went wrong"; these dramas are meant to happen for the sole purpose of our spiritual growth. There is no "wrong"! The things we perceive as wrong are only triggers to help us see what we still have to learn. Some people imply that once you understand how to manifest what you want and apply these principles in your life ("The Secret"), then your life will be idyllic and you will no longer have any concerns. Well I'm afraid that if they really believe this then they are deluding themselves. Understanding and applying the "law of attraction" will improve your life, there is no question about that. But you will still have challenges in your life. Because this is the only way we can learn spiritual truths. And that is why we are here. No matter what your "big purpose" is in life (or even if you have a big purpose at all), there is still learning to be done. If you have an illness, you have something still to learn. If you have unsatisfactory relationships with anyone at all, you have something still to learn. If you feel any negative emotions such as anger, jealousy or resentment, even just occasionally, then you still have something to learn. And we all do still have something to learn because if we knew it all, we would no longer have any reason to still be here on Earth. "This is a test to see if your mission on Earth is over. If you are still alive, it's not." - Sir Francis Bacon That quote really says it all! In most cases our own thoughts (either conscious or subconscious) created these conditions. But in some cases these conditions are the result of karma, i.e. wrong thoughts and actions in our past lives. In some cases the karma cannot be changed in this lifetime. However we have chosen these imperfections at soul level before we incarnate because these conditions can help us to learn about love, forgiveness, compassion, gratitude and acceptance. God does not punish us for our perceived wrongdoings but our soul often has a desire to "make atonement" anyway. This is why sometimes we feel a compulsion to help a particular person even if that person may not be very grateful for our efforts. Although we are capable of changing most things in our lives, there are some things that are best accepted as they are. Some events have been chosen by our souls before we came to earth in this incarnation. Although we can still change these things if we try hard enough, we will probably bring some other disharmony into our lives if we do. What we need to do instead is to accept the situation in a non judgmental way and learn the lesson from it. In many cases the "problem" will then fade away of its own accord and if it doesn't, then it is a necessary component of our future path in life.
There is really only one problem on Earth no matter what form it manifests individually. People's hearts need healing. Medicine won't heal them. Hearts are healed by beautiful moments - by the transmitting of love from one entity to another. So look for and treasure your beautiful moments!
